From watching those Ted Talks about digital privacy, it gave me a lot to think about. Who knew you could be driving and pass a police car and they not only can pull up your license and registration but they capture a picture of who's with you and even where you've been driving around. Who knew that the telephone companies either are able to or have other companies able to be wired our surveillance? In my own terms, digital privacy involves the protection from apps, internet services, and telephone providers. However, we all know that there are some loopholes to getting through the system,
While taking Media Law and Literacy up to this point within the semester, digital privacy has come up a lot in our class or more like the breaching of digital privacy. For example, I'll be on the phone with my mom about some things I plan on getting and not even a couple hours later when I'm on my phone or laptop- what I said I was going to get pops up.
Throughout doing my own research on digital privacy, I learned how the pandemic shed a light within this topic. It stated that privacy should be a right - not a luxury. However, as we all know our privacy "right" has been obstructed. With the increase of covid numbers within this pandemic, the demand for online application have been at an all time high. Whether that may be for school, work, or healthcare purposes. We continue to go full throttle with technology.
Is there really any privacy when it is evident that we are being watched 24/7 365 days of the year? Companies like Apple are storing our face id, finger prints, allowing them to have access for us to access certain apps like amazon, our bank account we use, etc.
To protect our digital privacy, we should protect our accounts by doing double verifications, changing our passwords routinely, and trying to shy away from online purchasing
