In Class Video - Wikileaks

WikiLeaks publishes trove of alleged CIA hacking tools

On class, Monday October 4th, 2021, we watched a very alarming video in class regarding the US attack in Iraq in 2007 regarding Namir and Saeed. I have heard wikileaks every now and then in regards to Julian Assange, however, I never knew what the purpose of their websites was. Obviously within the name, 'leak' is at the end of it, meaning they share information that the government is hiding from us or doesn't want to bring to light.

The American military confirmed that the journalists, Namir Noor-Eldeen, top, and Saeed Chmagh, were killed as American forces battled insurgents in the area.
The two men listed above,
Namir and Saeed, were employees of Reuters who were killed along with 9 other people. Within the film, they were filming for their companies. In the US's helicopter cam as they were going back and fourth, person to person, they mistaked their cameras for AK47's. Not only do that, the language that they used within their blog was extremely insensitive. They cussed, they used the word "prick", etc. I would never think that the people serving our country would act and serve our country in such a way.

The fact that I've never seen this video until class time - makes me skeptical of what else the government is hiding from us. There are probably plenty of videos being hidden to the public eye because the US doesn't want to admit they're in the wrong.
